Scripture:  Jeremiah 20:7-13, 25: 1-11, 26:1-15, Daniel 1-6, 9

This was a musical production of the amazing survival story of a Hebrew boy with unwavering trust in God. Scriptural text and historical records were used to weave the narrative that spans the live of Daniel, the prophet whose name means, “God is my judge.”  Running time ~ 60 min.

Cast:
The original production of “Daniel: God is my Judge” was performed with a cast of over fifty adults, teen girls, teen boys and children in 2009 in New York.

Synopsis:
It begins with Daniel as a young boy in Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar’s soldiers invade the city, capture the young and able boys and take them to Babylon.  There, Daniel earns great favor from three successive Kings and endures throughout as a faithful servant for God.

Daniel’s trials and persistent faith are played out in several well-known scenes; the sorcerer’s temptations, furnace flames of fury (Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego), Daniel’s interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream about a tree, hand-writing on the wall (ופרסין,תקל,מנא,מנא … Mene, Mene, Tekel, Peres), and perhaps the best known story … Daniel thrown into the lion’s den.

Daniel epitomizes faithfulness, steadfastness, and commitment to God — against all odds. This is a timeless message for all who face challenges navigating cultural pressures.

MEMORY LANE …

Here is a video medley of scenes from the original performance at Brunswick Church, accompanied by Chuck at the piano. It is hard to believe how far we have come — and how fast the music is now!!

All cast and crew were church members, to whom we give much thanks.
