Noah – Burden of a Prophet

Noah_180405-2
Noah asking God, “Why me?”

Scripture:  Genesis 6 – 9

Synopsis:
Everyone has heard the story of Noah, the animals and his ark. But, have you considered the immense burden placed on Noah?  This story portrays the great tragedy of God wiping out society with the flood and how Noah carries his burden as a prophet.

Noah questions…
It is hard not to warn them as the end draws near
Even though they’ve displeased you…I’ll see their fear.
As you pour down your wind and rain,
They will suffer in pain…
As their lives flee
Lord, grant mercy…
Someone stronger…Oh Lord, why me?

In the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.  They knew nothing about what would happen…until the flood came and took them all away.

As it was in the days of Noah, that is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.  God so loved the world that he sent his only Son to die for us so we will not perish as they did in the days of Noah; but have everlasting life.  Now we, like Noah, must bear the burden of the prophet.
